Crowds at Disneyland Resort

The number of people visiting the Disneyland Resort varies greatly from day to day. There are many more people at the parks on peak days than on slow (out-of-season) days.

Disney compensates for this using a couple of strategies. One way is by varing the throughput on individual rides. A second way is by varing the parks hours of operation.

A number of rides can operate in several different modes. For example a single Monorail train can be operating, or all three can be running. It's A Small World can be boarding two boats as once or one at a time. The Matterhorn can operate both tracks or a single track. California Screaming also has the ability to board one or two coasters at a time. This ability allows the park to keep the lines from getting too long on busy days and to prevent empty lines on slow days.

Varying the park hours allows the visitors to spread out their visits over a longer day on busy days. The Disneyland park will usually open between 7am and 10am and close between 8pm and 1am. Some times it closes earlier for special evening events in the park (Usually on weekdays). The California Adventure park generally has shorter hours than the Disneyland park. The California Adventure park will usually open between 9am and 10am and close between 6pm and 10pm. For park hours on a specific day you can click on the link below.

Disneyland Resort Park hours

Disney schedules additional performances during the longer days to give visitors more chances to see the shows.

By varing hours and throughput, the Disneyland resort is able to help ensure everyone has a fun time at the Happiest Place on Earth even on the bussiest days.
